The Neverending House Pt 5

The Kitchen

Somewhere in the middle of the building of the dining hall, I decided I needed to build a room that would actually be useful. There is a lot of glass and sandstone in that dining hall. I was also building up quite a collection of mob drops, saplings, and foodstuffs. In order to alleviate the strain on my inventory slots, and to get to work preparing the food I would be needing now that the adventure update is here, I built this kitchen:

There are four workstations per table. I used the fencing so that the chests could hang one block above the workspace. See the cake? It's actually the first one I have ever made. Each section of ovens, one on each side, has 52 ovens, for a total of 104. Why so many? Now I can fill up a double chest with sand, cobble, iron, etc, and smelt it all in one go. Beats waiting around to reload the stove when a stack is done.

I placed crafting benches along with wood planks, with stone pressure plates on top to give the feel of a real countertop. The chests and wood planks on top take the place of traditional cabinets. Crafting benches below every chest means I don't have to walk from chest to chest gathering supplies and then having to walk over to a bench. When I grab my last ingredient, there is always a bench waiting below.

And what kitchen would be complete without a sink? Hidden behind the wood half step and the planks on either side is an infinite water source.

So that's it so far. Everything so far was what I built in between starting the world and when I finally got up off my butt and decided to really start this blog. Everything after this post will come as I build it.
